Hiring brief builder
Most sales hires go wrong before anyone is interviewed, because the brief was never agreed. Work through this and you leave with a written brief, the open decisions flagged, and no invented salary data.
How this behaves
- No email gate. Copy or print your brief whenever you like.
- No salary benchmarks. Your figures only, repeated back.
- Gaps are named rather than filled in with a guess.
- Turn the finished brief into a job spec, advert, boolean search, interview questions or outreach — from your answers only.
- Nothing is sent to us unless you decide to send it.
0 of 29 fields answered. Nothing is sent anywhere until you choose to.
1. The role and why it exists
A brief that cannot explain why the role exists produces interviews with no shared standard.
Your brief
Nothing here yet. Answer anything on the left and your brief builds as you go — you can copy or print it at any point, with no email required.
Common questions
What this tool will and will not do
Does the hiring brief builder tell me what salary to pay?
No. It has no salary data in it and will not estimate a market rate. You enter the figures you are prepared to pay and the brief repeats them back. If you want a view on whether a package is competitive for a specific role and location, that is a conversation with a consultant, not a calculator.
Do I have to give my email to see the brief?
No. You can build, review, copy and print the whole brief without giving us anything. Contacting us is a separate, deliberate step.
What should a sales hiring brief contain?
Why the role exists, the sales motion and customer segment, what the person owns and is measured on, a short essential experience list separated from the desirable list, the reporting line and working model, the package you will pay, and the evidence a candidate has to show before an offer.
Is anything saved or sent automatically?
Nothing is sent anywhere unless you choose to. Your answers are held in your browser for the current session so you can resume if you navigate away, and the salary figures are deliberately excluded from that.
What happens when I generate a job spec, advert or search string?
Only when you press one of those buttons is your brief sent for a single AI request, and it is not stored afterwards. Your package figures are withheld unless you tick the box to include them. The output is written from your answers only: it will not invent a benefit, a metric or a salary, and it lists what you still have to decide.

Once the brief is written
A brief is only useful if the assessment behind it is honest.
Want a second opinion on the brief?
Send us what you have written. We will tell you honestly where it will struggle in the market, and whether we are the right people for the search.
